Business Challenge
Ron Rebeck, owner of Florida Backcountry, was searching for a new manufacturer for a product that was being made by hand for over 20 years. The PoleMate is a push pole holder for fishing that is worn on the hip to enable faster, safer, and quieter stowing.
Ron began seeking quotes from manufacturers online. He first looked into injection molding, but this was an expensive option. He did research about 3D printing, or additive manufacturing, and found that it was much more affordable. While seeking quotes for the PoleMate, he found the MFG Directory and filled out a form to learn more information.
Solution
Ron jumped on a call with an MFG buyer specialist, who walked him through the platform and showed him how he did not have to get just one quote at a time, but could submit his designs once to receive multiple quotes. “It sounded perfect!” Ron explained. “You can get quotes from the US, or all around the world.”
Shortly after learning about MFG, Ron submitted a Request for Quote (RFQ) to MFG. Creating an RFQ is simple. Anyone seeking to get a part manufactured can upload their design files and answer questions about part information, manufacturing location, timeline for creation, and more. Once reviewed by MFG, the RFQ is released for quoting to manufacturers on the platform.
“The MFG team was really personable and helpful, which made the process really easy,” he shared, upon working with MFG’s buyer specialists who helped him release his RFQ.
Results
The quotes began flowing in almost immediately. The PoleMate received 23 quotes in a matter of days. “There was even a quote from a manufacturer just twenty minutes away from me who I didn’t know existed,” Ron said. He talked to numerous manufacturers through the in-app communication tools, as well as email, then made a decision.
The chosen company, Swedge Technologies, sent a sample to Ron so he could assess their quality. Pleased with what he received, Ron proceeded with a full order for Florida Backcountry.
“MFG was a great site to work with,” Ron stated, sharing his happiness with finding MFG.com.
